crisp peplum

peplum top - h&m

as you may remember last month i did a post featuring this peplum top, since i first bought it in april i have noticed them popping up almost everywhere. all sorts of stores have taken this macro trend and adapted it for themselves

this particular h&m one has a very sportswear vibe to it - probably down the perforated fabrics used and the very streamlined fit

below are some of my favourites from the ss2012 collections, although i liked dries van noten's more boyish slant on this trend and celine's more casual loose look; i was completely taken by preen's spin on things. they mixed it up by having short more 'frilly' peplums - mostly shallow and coming straight out from the waist, giving a fun more youthful feel. but having the darker pieces with a longer more deep band before the peplum came out, sitting much more on the hip. all in all a much more flattering collection with a not to sugary sweet colour pallet
